Edit Dennistoun's Famous Son
Born in 1907 and raised the eldest of eight children in Dennistoun, Jack House was the heart and soul of the city he lived in and loved.
The legendary Evening Times columnist studied accountancy until 1928, but found his niche in journalism when he joined the Evening Citizen in the same year.
In the Second World War, he joined the Gordon Highlanders but moved to the Army Kinematograph Service as a scriptwriter.
House landed the city's top honour, the St Mungo prize.
He died, aged 84, in April 1991.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jack House a number of times in the early 80's, and a nicer gentleman you could not have wished for. Always charming, always humble. One of Glasgows' greatest sons. Graeme Stewart, Dennistoun.
