10/3/2008High rise flats in Gallowgate
Has anyone seen the state of the high rise flats in gallowgate they are a state inside and out. The windows in the backstairs are constantly smashed, rubbish everywhere, junkies hitting up in backstairs, neds hanging about and sitting in backstairs not getting moved on and don't even get me started on the state of the houses. Plus the lifts are constantly broken. I think the best option is to blow the flats up there is no way it will improve.

Yes I agree I have reported things on numerous occasions to no avail. There is nowhere else to turn. I hate having to pay rent for this house as repairs very rarely get done and when they do they break, normally within the same day. As for people hanging around I find it quite intimidating and wish they would move on or be moved on does anyone else feel the same? anon
I was in the Gallowgate 62 yrs ago, and it was a great place to grow up but there has been a lot of changes through the years and not for the better. I've been in Canada now for 41yrs but each time I come home I always love a walk along the Gallowgate, but I'm sure I wouldn't want to live there now,
Like Anne, I lived in the Gallowgate area many years ago. When I get back to the UK I make sure I walk down the Gallowgate. I am sorry to hear of all the social problems. Tougher penalties for rowdyism, legslation to make landlords hold to their responsibilities and some role-modelling by the Corporation by hauling away the rubbish, makng more greenspaces and doing golding competitons for the best kept properties, etc.
