1/7/2008Housing Bosses Ban Kids From Backyard Trampoline

CHILDREN living in a block of flats have been banned from having a trampoline by housing bosses.
They say the trampoline is a health and safety risk and have ordered parents to remove it from the back court.
Diane Davis and friend Annette Burrell, 29, bought the second hand 12ft trampoline, which has a safety net, for £70 and put it up in Toryglen, Glasgow, for their kids to play on.
Diane has three girls, Kate, 14, Alix, 13, and Cara, seven, while Annette's children are Dionne, 10, James, seven, and Courtney, three, and the youngsters have been playing on it every day.
But Thistle Housing Association has sent Diane a letter telling her to remove the trampoline from the back court of the flats in Corlaich Drive.
Diane said: "They say it is for health and safety reasons, but we can't see why. They also said they had a complaint about it being there. It's pathetic.
"They have not been playing on it until about 10 in the morning and we have taken them off it around nine at night, so it's not stopping anybody sleeping.
"Where are the kids supposed to play? There is no park nearby and it is not safe for them to play out front because the cars rush by."
Annette said: "We have had letters before saying they are not allowed to play football, which is understandable. But nobody is coming to any harm with the trampoline. It's not obstructing anything. I think the letter is ridiculous."
The association's Angela Welch said: "This is an issue because it is a common back area.
"Some trampolines are huge and it is not something we can allow.
"It is an accident waiting to happen and could cause problems if people are congregating there.
"They can have a trampoline if the parents are there watching and they take it in every night."
